Wedding Inspiration: Mixed Metals
Today’s wedding inspiration is a elegant mix of metals and romantic styling. Originally inspired by Team GB’s amazing Olympic metal results at Rio 2016, I created this luxe wedding inspiration board.
If you’re looking to plan your 2017 wedding with a glamorous twist, I think this Mixed Metal style could be just for you! Imagine mirrored furniture, champagne cocktails and the smell of abundant florals in the air…
Gold, silver and bronze (copper or rose gold) look beautiful as individual accent colours for wedding themes, but have you ever thought about using them together? The combination of warm gold, clean silver and earthy bronze shades creates a stunning colour palette that is made for a spring/summer wedding. It’s delicate, elegant and seriously sophisticated. Take a peek at some of our simple ideas on how you can create a delicious mixed metal wedding colour scheme…
MIXED METALLIC WEDDING STATIONERY
First things first, let’s focus on your wedding stationery. Sophisticated designs and calligraphy are both all the rage at the moment and fortunately for us they work beautifully with a metallic colour palette. I love the thought of finishing simple white invitations with a sparkly metallic band. You could even go all out luxe and post them out in metallic envelopes!
BRIDE & BRIDESMAIDS
Now it’s time to reflect your theme through your bridal outfit. Gold accessories or a gold tiara will look stunning. Opt for some metallic heels for a pop of colour underneath your dress. Your wedding bouquet will easily give a nod towards your wedding theme: white roses and peonies paired with gold and green foliage are the perfect choice! Mix and match gold, silver and bronze dresses between your bridesmaids. The subtle contrast of the three colours will work together to make you stand out and will create an aisle style everyone will crave.
FOOD & DRINK
When it comes to your wedding food and drink, you can have some real fun choosing. Golden champagne cocktails are an absolute must-have! Decorate champagne glasses by dipping the rims in gold sugar – your guests will definitely want some of these delicious drinks. Metallic cake pops can double up as wedding favours and place names – simply add a flag with the name of each guest written on it, and your guests can munch away to their hearts content!
There are so many different ways of creating a wedding cake to suit this theme. White icing with metallic detail will look beautiful and summery – especially with a metallic calligraphy cake topper! Alternatively, a wedding cake with a bronze bottom tier, silver middle tier and gold top tier will look gorgeous adorned with white blooms. If you want to go all out, why not consider gold leaf icing and add a metallic cake topper?
It’s important that your wedding décor effortlessly reflects your chosen colour palette. I love the idea of hanging mixed metallic garlands or tissue paper pom-poms around your venue – they’d make the perfect backdrop for the top table. You could also have mixed metal place settings or scatter mixed metallic lanterns, mason jars or candle holders along the tables!
