Pantone’s Colour of The Year 2017
Last week, the global authority on colour and provider of professional colour standards for the creative industries, Pantone, announced PANTONE 15-0343 Greenery as the Pantone Colour of the Year selection for 2017.
A refreshing and revitalising shade, Greenery is symbolic of new beginnings.
Pantone describe’s Greenery as a fresh and zesty yellow green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew. Illustrative of flourishing foliage and the lushness of the great outdoors, the fortifying attributes of Greenery signals individuals to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate.
Greenery is nature’s neutral. The more submerged people are in modern life, the greater their innate craving to immerse themselves in the physical beauty and inherent unity of the natural world. A life affirming shade, Greenery is also emblematic of the pursuit of personal passions and vitality.

Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute said: “Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the hope we collectively yearn for amid a complex social and political landscape. Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate, revitalise and unite, Greenery symbolises the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose.
“The tangy yellow green speaks to our desire to express, explore, experiment and reinvent, imparting a sense of buoyancy. Through its reassuring yet assertive vibrancy, Greenery offers us self assurance and boldness to live life on our own terms, during a time when we are redefining what makes us successful and happy.”
Pantone Greenery and Weddings
Foliage is the new floral. Like the spectrum of possibilities in colourful petals and blooms paired with lush green leaves, plants and trees, Greenery provides a pop of colour or acts as a bold accent in decor and transforms the plain to the lavish and lush. The natural and organic greenery look can accent any wedding theme and complement all wedding decorations and arrangements, due to its natural undertones of cool blues with vibrant yellows.
It is also more budget friendly than your standard wedding florals and you don’t need a garden affair or a woodland wonderland to bring the outside in as Greenery is an easy way to add that touch of nature to your wedding.
To showcase how you can incorporate Greenery into your wedding, I have create the below wedding inspiration board, showcasing some of my favourite greenery wedding elements.
